TRACS WA have now run two Pilot training sessions for the newly redeveloped Aboriginal Person Centred Care package. The new package expands on the previous version, exploring Health literacy for Aboriginal people, and with an increased focus on applying the learning from the full day session to practice.

Both Pilot sessions were well received by participants with positive and constructive feedback provided.

The training package will now undergo finalisation with assistance from the Aboriginal Collaborative Group. Recent training and upskilling campaigns will allow a number of new co-facilitators to deliver the package as it is rolled out across WA Health Services. Upcoming sessions of the full day Aboriginal Person Centred Care training package will be promoted widely by TRACS WA, and Health Service staff can then register to attend.

Examples of feedback received from participants:
  • "Content was great and run very well, great to have input from Aboriginal health professionals"
  • "Great training...should be mandatory"
  • A useful aspect of the training was learning the... "History and identity of the aboriginal population"
  • "Encouraging my staff to attend this training - so valuable"
