TRACS WA and the Tracheostomy Community of Practice held a virtual education event via MS Teams on the 17th March. We heard from clinicians at Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Brightwater Care Group.

The presentations were very insightful into how tertiary hospitals and step-down facilities such as WACHS sites, disability and residential care facilities can work collaboratively to effectively manage someone with a tracheostomy and assist the person to meet their goals.  We also heard from members of the Trache Team at Fiona Stanley Hospital who provided an interesting overview of precautions in the management of COVID positive patients who are ventilated and those with a tracheostomy who are not ventilated.
