The launch celebrates what has been achieved and recognises how far we have come from our beginnings in 2015 of community consultation to now delivering a full day of training module to meet the needs of WA Health clinicians and to support better health outcomes for our Aboriginal patients.  The launch also celebrates the collaboration between all the Aboriginal Health Strategy Directors in WA Health, as well as Aboriginal Health staff, working alongside the TRACS WA team, to make a difference for our Aboriginal patients in WA.

This project started in response to a need expressed by subacute care clinicians to learn how to care better for Aboriginal people with a person-centred approach. The collaborative group initially developed the half day training in Aboriginal Person-Centred Care which has now been developed into a full day training, based on feedback from participants.

The training is delivered by Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Facilitators working together to model the way we would like to see the health services working collaboratively into the future.

Our full day training module is complementary to the online Aboriginal Cultural E-learning (ACeL) and creates an experiential learning journey for all health clinicians.
